Housekeeping Supervisor

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible and accountable for the total cleanliness, maintenance and aesthetic upkeep of the hotel.

2. Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff, and plans work schedules to ensure adequate service.

3. Inspects and evaluates physical conditions of the establishment and submits to management recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space.

4. Periodically inventories supplies and equipment, and investigates new and improved cleaning instruments.

5. Organizes and directs departmental training programs and resolves personnel problems.

6. Writes activities and personnel reports for review by management.

7. Coordinates activities of those with other departments.

8. May select and purchase new furnishings.

9. May evaluate records to forecast department personnel requirements, and to prepare budget.

10. Balance staff working schedules to meet peak and slack periods.

11. Keeps very close liaison with the front office to ascertain and meet anticipated guest check-ins and check-outs.

12. Meets regularly with the Engineering department and Laundry section to ensure the smooth flow of supplies and repair work.

13. Makes daily ocular inspection of hotel rooms and its surroundings.

14. Declares a room out of order.

15. Schedules day-off, vacation leave and approves overtime work of housekeeping personnel.

16. Checks the night occupancy report and the expected occupancy of the day, the VIP’s expected, functions to be held in the hotel, etc.

17. Promotes teamwork among staff by conducting regular briefing whereby problems are attended to and resolved immediately.

18. Checks on the lost and found record. Releases lost items unclaimed within the given period of redemption.

19. Consults with other departments regarding staff uniform. Issues uniforms to staff and collects them upon termination of service.

20. Updates oneself in all aspects in housekeeping through training or reading materials. Conducts continuing training programs for the staff.

21. Performs other related duties as may be assigned from time to time and/or required by immediate superior or management.
